White Beach at Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines!

Are you stressed out and want to unwind for just one day? Well, you can try visiting one of the famous famous public beaches in Southern part of Cebu. It is located in Basdaku, Moalboal Cebu.

How to get there?

  1. From your place (anywhere on earth), take a ride going to South bus terminal.
  2. Take a bus going to BATO via BARILI not via OSLOB. Anyway, you can ask the driver or the assistant one (conductor) to drop you off at the market, it’s just along the road. The fee is nearly Php 107 or more, depending on your chosen bus (air-conditioned or non-air-conditioned).
  3. Aside from the bus, you can take this van going to Basdaku from South Bus Terminal. For both bus and van, it takes about 2 and a half to 3 hours to reach Basdaku. A private vehicle can get there faster – for about 1 and half hours!
  4. Upon arriving at the Moalboal public market, you need to ride a tricycle. However, you have to pay for the whole passengers since the driver needs to wait for some before going to the white beach. If in case you’re in a hurry, you can take a motorcycle (habal-habal) and just pay Php 30. Take note: Don’t be deceived by other drivers who ask more than the said amount to be paid.

Before arriving to the exact beach, while you are enjoying the ride with the habal-habal driver, you have to pay Php 15 for the entrance fee and another Php 15. I thought everything was free when I went there, but of course we need to follow their rules.

Once you arrive there, you can enter publicly and no need to pay any entrance fee.

The sea was so calm and the weather at that time was so cloudy. I enjoyed sightseeing. There were a lot of tourists at that time. Basdaku is not only a white sand beach but, of course, it has crystal clear pristine water.

In this place, you can do the following:

  • Bring your own food since there is no corkage, but you have to cleanup after eating.
  • Bring your own tent if you don’t want to rent any room. Actually, they have some tents for rent starts from Php 300-500. You can also rent a room which costs from Php 1,000-1,500.
  • If you don’t have any tent, you don’t like to stay longer because you’re purpose of going there is just sightseeing and taking lots of photos (like I did with my friend Susan), you can just stay anywhere in the beach. Bring your sarong/hat/cap/umbrella, and just squat.

This was one of the tents I took when I went there. It was so hot because we arrived there at 1pm.

This was the table that was also for rent, but we didn’t rent because we just stayed there for 3hours under the heat of the sun!

Since the beach is public, we chose to stay near this area under the small branches of the plants. We ate lunch past 1pm. The cottages cost Php 150, but still we chose to squat and continued eating our lunch. All of a sudden, a rude woman in her mid 40’s approached us to stay away from that place because it was not allowed. We couldn’t even finish our lunch because of what she acted. Sad to say, people there were not so friendly. Other nationalities (Koreans, Japanese, Iranian) who squatted on the sand like us were also felt disappointed. I am a Filipina, and I am ashamed of the action she took towards others.

So, I was already in a bad mood and almost forgot my purpose of visiting the place. Good thing my friend loves to pose. I enjoyed capturing some photos of her as well as the beauty of nature in Basdaku white beach.

This is Susana Tero, a very unique friend of mine since we were in college. She loves to pose and usually laughs at loud in her leisure. When I’m with her, all my pain and stressful feelings are suddenly gone!

It was too hot to stay but it was worth it! Look at the beautiful sea and sand!

We took a selfie despite the hottest weather in the South! (At that time, it was raining cats and dogs in Cebu City area).

I was dead tired so I just took a picture of my worn out feet instead of taking a selfie!
